Thank You For Saving My Son's Life.

I wanted to take a few minutes to say “thank you” for saving my son’s life.

Last summer my son confessed that he was using drugs. I started trying to find help for him, but there weren’t a lot of facilities around and not many had intense treatment. No one talked of detox or long term help after treatment. 30 days is not enough time to get clean and learn the skills needed not to relapse. Then I found Narconon®.

I called the 800 number and was immediately directed to someone that specialized in the type of drug my son was using. They were supportive and understood what we, as a family, were going through as well as my son was going through.

At the time my son was not willing to get help, but several months later he hit bottom. He was scared—afraid of what was going to happen while getting the drugs out of his system— but knew he couldn’t go on the way he was. Once I got him in the car, headed for the detox facility, he kept trying to back out. I remembered Narconon and told him we would go there to talk to them. He agreed. I knew if he got out of the car at home, I’d never get him back in to get help. As a parent you want to fix all the wrongs and you can’t fix this.

The staff at Narconon Arrowhead were great in getting my son to agree to detox. This was his first step to recovery. They transported him to a hospital, did all the paperwork and reassured me that they would be there for the family throughout the entire program, and after. They helped him with legal matters so that warrants, which would have only created more problems, weren’t issued.

Our son had some hard times while in the program. It’s hard to face your mistakes, to change your whole life. But through it all the staff was there for us and for him, encouraging him to stay when the going got rough and supporting us, so we could stand strong and not give in. It was so hard not to give in and to be firm in insisting that he stay in the program. It’s really hard to tell your kid not to come back home if he does not finish the program.

I have had so many people tell me they have never seen our son look so good and happy. Through the program he has gained confidence, better communication skills, better control of his emotions and is aware of “the good type of people” and “the bad ones” that will lead to trouble. He is no longer an angry young man with no direction and no will to do anything but get his drugs. For the first time in years he shows respect for his family and elders, and goes out of his way to help when needed—without an argument.

Our son knows he is a drug addict. He knows that each day is a new day in recovery, but he now has the skills he needs to survive.

Thank you for giving our son back to us.

Sincerely,
A Grateful Mother.
